What will happen to the MoCo Council?

It's extremely likely that 7 of the current 9 members of the MoCo Council will be reelected and that 2 new Democratic members will join the Council at the end of this year. How will this affect the Council?

Phil Andrews will likely be replaced by Sidney Katz. Both are soft spoken, polite, and very experienced. Phil Andrews sometimes was the only Council Member on 8-1 votes, such as raises for County employees and Council Members. He was also outspoken about gerrymandering in Maryland. Sidney Katz is likely to take some time to become acclimated to the Council. Will he then take up some of the same issues as Phil Andrews, or other controversial issues? We'll have to see.

Tom Hucker willl likely take over the seat that was held by Valerie Ervin and then held temporarily by Cheri Branson. Hucker has a reputation for being willing to take progressive stands, possibly simillar to Valerie Ervin.

So will the MoCo Council change much with two replacements? We don't know yet but it will be interesting to watch.
