Close Election Results in MoCo Dem Primary 2014

There were some close election results in the MoCo Democratic primary on June 24, 2014. This proves again the cliche that every vote counts. it also shows that there are some very good Democratic candidates even among those who didn't achieve their goal this year.

The following are official Maryland Board of Elections results and in each case the first-named candidate won and the other didn't, with a difference of 2% or less.

In the District 19 Delegate race, Marice Morales received 17% of the vote and Charlotte Crutchfield received 16%.

In the District 20 Delegate race, Will Smith received 16% of the vote and Will Jawando received 15%.

In the MoCo Council At-Large race, George Leventhal received 17% of the vote and Beth Daly received 15%.

In the MoCo Council District 5 race, Tom Hucker received 38% of the vote and Evan Glass received 37%.

In the MCDCC At-Large race, Kevin Walling received 9% of the vote and Dave Kunes received 8%.

In the MCDCC District 16 race, Loretta Jean Garcia received 28% of the vote and Almina Khorakiwala received 26%,

Just about everyone agrees that all those named above were very good candidates. Hopefully those who came within 2% of winning will remain active in MoCo Dem politics and will be leaders in the future.
